Journal History
Stikes Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta is an institution that has hosted the Media Ilmu Kesehatan (MIK) journal since its first publication in 2012. Over time, in 2018, this institution transformed into Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta.
This institutional transition affected the migration of the journal’s domain, which initially used http://ejournal.stikesayaniyk.ac.id/index.php/MIK/ before switching to http://ejournal.unjaya.ac.id/index.php/mik. However, this change had several consequences, including a decline in visitor statistics and the removal of indexation from DOAJ and Google Scholar.
In terms of accreditation, Jurnal MIK received recognition as a Sinta 4-indexed journal under the National Accreditation System in 2017. Then, in 2018, the journal successfully underwent reaccreditation and advanced to Sinta 3.
In mid-2022, Jurnal Media Ilmu Kesehatan faced an unprecedented challenge—a cyberattack carried out by unknown parties. This hacking incident disrupted the publication of scientific articles, preventing the timely release of several journal editions, particularly Volume 11 Number 2 and Volume 11 Number 3.
In response to this incident, the journal management team worked diligently to restore the system and enhance data security to prevent similar attacks in the future. This incident served as a valuable lesson on the importance of safeguarding the integrity and security of scientific publications in the digital academic ecosystem.
