Background: The Early Warning and Response System (EWARS) monitors weekly trends of infectious diseases with outbreak potential to improve preparedness and enable rapid response to 24 priority diseases in Indonesia.
Objective: This study aimed to describe the performance of the EWARS in Southeast Sulawesi Province using secondary data from the EWARS web-based reporting dashboard.
Methods: This descriptive observational study used a time-series design with the population as the unit of observation.
Results: Report accuracy reached 92%, report completeness was 97.05%, and alert response rate was 87%. A total of 11 of 17 regencies/cities met all EWAARS performance indicators. Of the 24 priority diseases, 21 generated alerts, with acute respiratory infections (ARI) being the most frequently reported. Outbreaks were dominated by food poisoning. All 342 reporting units across the 17 regencies/cities were active.
Conclusion: The implementation of the EWARS in Southeast Sulawesi Province in 2025 performed well and met most national indicators, although improving the timeliness of alert responses in several regencies/cities remains necessary to strengthen early detection and outbreak response
