The effect of educational board game on menstrual hygiene knowledge among female students elementary school

Background: Inadequate knowledge and education abaut menstrual hygiene may lead to inappropriate hygiene practices and increase the risk of reproductive health problems. An educational snakes-and-ladders board game can provide an interactive and engaging learning medium
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of an educational snakes-and-ladders board game on menstrual hygiene knowledge among female students at SD UMP Purwokerto.
Methods: This quantitative study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 38 female students were selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable menstrual hygiene knowledge questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test.
Results: The mean knowledge score increased from 17.21 before the intervention to 20.39 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in knowledge before and after the intervention.
Conclusion: The educational snakes-and-ladders board game significantly improved menstrual hygiene knowledge among female students at SD UMP Purwokerto and can be used as an interactive health education medium in primary school settings.
